How do you tape a lacrosse stick?

Lacrosse players should tape their sticks because it helps your hands from sliding around the stick while you pass, shoot, and face-off.

First things first, let's talk about what tape you should use to tape your lacrosse stick.  The best tape by far is hockey tape because it has a lot of grip, is lightweight and lasts for a while.  Regular athletic tape is ok but the grip isn't as strong and fades pretty fast.  There are other wraps with extra grip like spyder grips and lizard skin that are pretty good if you like that style but those are heavier than regular tape and are more expensive.  You can test multiple types but my favorite by far is hockey tape.

The most important part of taping your stick is the butt end which prevents your hand from sliding off when shooting and passing since the lacrosse shooting motion has a lot of pulling in it.  This is only for guys, girls don't worry about the butt end knob because your pockets are shallow and the shooting motion is slightly different because of that.  There are plastic butt ends you can put on sticks as well but I personally don't like the feel as much as a tape butt end.

The next place to tape your stick is where your bottom hand sits to give you more grip while passing or shooting.

Another place you can put tape especially if you're a beginner is where your top hand should go when you pass or shoot since ' it's hard to remember where to put it sometimes if you're newer to the sport.

If you're a face-off player or long-stick defenseman your taping is going to be slightly different for your specific position than from this video.
